Haylie starts kindergarden

Haylie has been talking about kindergarten for months and the day has finally come!
The night before she had a hard time falling asleep because she was so excited. The morning of she had no problem getting up though! As we pulled into our parking spot she informed us that there was no need for us to walk her in. She knows where her class was and who her teacher is. Of course we did not listen to her wishes:) We all walked her in and and watched as she made her way to her seat. She was completely ready to start her 1st day of kindergarten!
Her 1st day was a huge success!
Here are the things she remembered for the day:
She loves her teacher because everything is so easy.
She met a new friend named Sophia.
There is a kid that speaks another language. She doesn't get upset that she doesn't talk back because she is not trying to be rude. She doesn't understand:)
A kids from her class tried to eat the ice pack in her lunch.
There is a classroom pet. It's a corn snake and will only bit if you squeeze it's tail:)
She liked to play in the sand.
She can tuck her shirt in after going to the bathroom.
Her friend is allergic to soap so she can only wash her hands quickly.

Ella's 1st cereal

Ella has been going crazy trying to eat everything we eat. We decided maybe it was time to give her the rice cereal. I was not expecting her to eat much but I was expecting it to be a mess:) Well....she proved me wrong! Not only did she enjoy every bite, she opened her mouth when she seen the spoon coming towards her and ate the whole entire bowl! Shocked us all.
With the amazing technology Grandma Anna was able to witness the entire thing! We had her on facetime and she watched Ella eat the whole bowl. It was like having her right there:)
Our little piggy is growing up WAY too fast!

Celebrating our Freedom

Happy 4th of July
The best way to celebrate in Arizona is a pool party ending with fireworks!
That is exactly what we did:)
This was Ella's 1st 4th of July and she was such a happy little girl. She loved all the attention given to her:)

Some of our yummy treats we enjoyed throughout the day!
Boys will be Boys!
These boys had a blast digging in the mud and of course throwing it at the girls.
Momma voice had to jump in and put a stop to that:)

I would definitely say we were not lacking in fireworks this year. From an endless supply of sparklers to bright colored fountains. Everyone enjoyed over 2 hours nonstop fun. Between us and the neighbors I think we had the best show in town!
Thanks to everyone who came over and made this 4th so memorable!
We are so blessed to have such great friends and family:)

Goal!!!!

James has really impressed us this season. He went from hanging out in the back and always passing the puck to the other players, to taking the puck right to the goal! He has so much motivation this season to improve his skills and it has been paying off:) He is making a goal at almost every game!

James is playing against a friend on another team. He was not about to let him get this puck!!!
His hard work payed off. He got the puck and made a goal!!!
 Such a little stud:)

Camp Boothroyd

Kayla was so sad to be leaving Rancho this year so I told her we would have several "hang out" days with some of her friends over the summer. She planned a little pool party for some of her school friends and skating friends. She was so excited when Karalynn, Allie, Taylor & Kaylee were able to come. And of course we let James have his little buddy Gavin come to keep him entertained:)

They all started out in the our pool swimming and eating fruit until Grandma Anna came over to get some help bringing pool toys over. As she gather up the toys she heard the girls jump into her pool! So....next thing I know they are over here asking if they can all go swimming over there. I'm said SURE, thinking it would be a great opportunity to make them the cupcakes I has been dying to make!

Working up quite an appetite swimming they all came back ready to make their own homemade pizza.
Click HERE to get the recipe.
These cupcakes were devoured after everyone had finished their pizza.
I found the Mint Cupcake recipe HERE but I did not use their frosting. I'm not a big fan of using vegetable shortening so this is the recipe I used.

Mint Oreo Frosting
 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
pinch of fine grain sea salt
1/2 tablespoon clear vanilla extract
4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
3 tablespoons heavy cream
1-2 cups of crushed mint oreos

Directions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter until fluffy add in salt. Slowly add in confectioners' sugar, and continue creaming until well blended.

2. Add salt, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon of heavy cream. Blend on low speed. Add a little more heavy cream until you reach the desired consistency. Beat at high speed until frosting is smooth and fluffy.

3. Add 1-2 cups mint oreos and blend on low speed

Mommy's sunshine!
I can't believe Ella is 2 months already. She is such a joy to have around.

Right now she LOVES:
to nurse
play under her mat
be held
Kayla (she the favorite sibling right now)
chew on her hands
reach for her toes
tummy time
to be talked to
her blanket
to smile

She doesn't like:
to ride in the car
her binkie
to be cold (the ice rink)

Summer fun

Summer is always filled with lots of pool time.
Thank Kim for inviting us to come cool off in the pool!
The kids had a blast and can't wait to do it again.
